We’re thrilled to confirm our involvement in the new Garfield movie, producing the animated feature alongside our partners at Alcon Entertainment!
The project brings aboard David Reynolds (Finding Nemo) as writer and Mark Dindal (Chicken Little, The Emperor’s New Groove) as director, and with Garfield himself voiced by none other than Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World). The animated feature will be distributed by Sony Pictures.
CEO Namit Malhotra said about the project:
"The cat is out of the bag! We’re delighted to be partnering with Alcon Entertainment to produce this fresh new take on a much-loved character. Garfield marks an important milestone for DNEG, in that it is one of our first projects as a production partner to be announced. We’re busy developing an exciting slate of new content alongside our filmmaking partners, and I’m looking forward to sharing more details in the coming months."
Created by Jim Davis, Garfield first appeared as a newspaper cartoon in 1978 and has gone on to become the most widely syndicated comic strip in the world.
